After a pretty comfortable nights sleep in the back of my rented Ford Escape, I awoke just after sunrise and the first train to come by me was a BNSF train with a nice assortment of engine power.
The First photo was taken out my front window as the engines made the first turn towards the loop. In the engine consist were a TFM SD70Mac and a NS SD70M as well as a BNSF GP30 Second train was a UP manifest train coming across the Tehachapi Creek bridge heading into Woodford. And the third photo here is the DPU engines that were on the end of the manifest train. |

I wanted to get a better photo of the UP manifest train so I headed over to Caliente and was on my way to catch it at tunnel 2 when I spotted this BNSF intermoda train coming up the hill. Photographed on the S curve just west of the Caliente horseshoe curve.
Second photo is the same train just after going over Bealville Road And one more of the train as they pulled to a stop at Bealville. They were waiting for the same UP manifest train I was waiting for. The UP train passed us both at Bealville and I made a quick drive back to Caliente to photograph the train crossing over Bealville Road. |

After the UP passed by me, I headed down to the town of Tehachapi to freshen up for the morning and get some breakfast. I drove down to Summit switch to try my luck with some train photos around town. I was met by a BNSF JB Hunt stack train heading towards the loop, so I photographed it passing the power de-rail switch. |

When I was heading down to Tehachapi I spotted a BNSF grain train that was stopped at Rowen so I tested my luck and made my way to Caliente and was able to catch it coming down out of tunnel 2 and heading into the horse shoe curve.
First photo is the front end engine consist approaching Bealville Road. And again seen here from the Caliente Bodfish Road overlook after navigating the curve heading towards Ilmon. |

|
Over to Sandcut I was able to capture another few photos of this masive grain train. Photo one below is the lead engines as well as the set of 3 engines that were cut into the middle of the train. |

It was getting closed to the time I wanted to start heaing back to Orange County, so I went over to the loop to spend a bit of time there |
||||||||
|
After about an hour at the loop I started my way down towards Tehachapi where I caught BNSF # 4376 at Summit Switch with a short manifest train.
I continued along the road that leads to Monolith and just before I got to Hwy 58 there was a UP train heading towards Tehachapi. I turned and headed back stopping to photograph it around mile post 36.6 One place I was curious about was Cameron, so I exited the highway at Cameron Road traveled a short distance until I found the grade crossing. There I waited until BNSF # 4169 showed up with a mixed intermodal train. |

|
I followed took Hwy 14 out of Mojave all the while watching a water plane work at dumping water on a fire near the Palmdale / Lancaster area. When I got into Los Angeles county I stopped to see what was going on. Coming off the Alameda corridor was a nice looking BNSF harbor maifest train. I photographed it just passing Hobart tower, and then got over to the Commerce Metrolink station in time to photograph it going by there. |

|
Then I headed home and relaxed. It was a long trip that I look forward to doing again.
