Wilmington, CA ... Known as the "Heart of the Harbor" this area of southern California is a giant for industry. Resting between Long Beach Harbor and San Pedro Harbor, Wilimington gets 75 percent of the imports and exports for Terminal Island passing through it on a daily basis. It is a hotbed for all types of railroad action also between area's of the Alameda Corridor and a good portion of the Pacific Harbor Line tracks and main yard. Take the 405 or 710 freeways to get to the area. You can take the Wilmington exit off the 405 or use the Alameda Street exit and head south with the corridor tracks towards the harbor.

Pier A Yard

Pier A Passcha Facility & Borax
PHL 42 moves a string of empty heavy spine cars used on the BNSF's Steel Slab train at the Passcha facility on Pier A. PHL 51 works a set of empty slab cars onto one of the loading tracks at Passcha. Two stacks of brand new Cub Scout CSX Intermodal containers offloaded empty at the Passcha Facility and awaiting transfer to a storage yard via truck.

BNSF 793590 on the spur for the transfer table at the Team Track yard at Transfer Junction on the PHL San Pedro Sub. PHL - CP Banning
CP Banning is on the west end of the Transfer Yard used by Nissan on the PHL San Pedro Subdivision. At the time of this photo the control point was brand new having just been installed as part of a CTC expansion project. UP 3788 pulling a train of autoracks through CP Banning along with two new Green Goat switch engines. The train would pull all the way passed the Pier A Yard and then reverse into the Transfer yard as the train was distributed to the tracks in the yard by the train crew.
