Orange, CA ... The city of Orange sees rail traffic from all four of the major rail systems in Southern California. Amtrak and Metrolink both run passenger service through the city via the Metrolink Orange station (Amtrak does not stop trains at this station unless under special circumstances occur). BNSF runs through the city via a portion of the Metrolink's Orange sub divisions with the 1st La Mirada local enroute to the IIC in Tustin and then to Anaheim via the Olive sub division.
The Union Pacific also serves three customers with it's Marlboro Local via their own Tustin Branchline out of Anaheim.
Olive Sub Division:... Part of the original Santa Fe San Diego route, this stretch of track now serves as a connector short cut of sorts for the Metrolink to run it's trains between the BNSF San Bernadino Sub at Atwood in Placentia and it's own Orange Sub which connects near CP Mapel just north of the Metrolink Orange station. Primarly used as a passenger track for the Metrolink, it does see freight service with BNSF's 1st La Mirada local and several of BNSF's Barstow-San Diego freights.
BNSF 2470 leading the BNSF 1st La Mirada local towards CP Lincoln enroute to Adams Steel to drop off the three gondolas of scrap and a few hoppers at the transfer yard in Anaheim.
ATSF 795 picks up the rear of the BNSF 1st La Mirada as they head north/east passed CP Lincoln.
