Cajon Pass - Cajon Station ... Located along old Route 66. Cajon Station was . To get to this area from the south, take the Cleghorn Road exit off the 15 freeway, turn left and follow the road to the left. This is Route 66 which you will take about 1/4 of a mile until you come to a gated road on your right. There is a large boulder in front of the gate. You can park your car here and watch the trains. To your left will be a nice curved bridge. A moderate zoom lens will produce good photos in the morning hours.To the right is a set of signals for the two BNSF tracks which are together at this location. The UP's Palmdale cutoff is directly in front of you. If coming from the north, the directions are the same, but you would make a right off the freeway and follow Route 66.

BNSF 5498 pulling a mixed manifest train passed the Cajon sign. Looking the other way as BNSF 808 comes down the hill with some empty well cars. UP 4377 seen here bringing a train of autoracks past the private grade crossing at Cajon. The pass is jointly used by the Union Pacific and BNSF. Here a UP train heading up the hill passes by a BNSF train enroute to Sullivan's curve. The BNSF train was waiting at Cajon on a red signal due to a stalled train further down the hill at Blue Cut.
